As of Friday the 19^th we are truly scabies free!

It took 4 treatments of permitherine (insecticide) cream as well as two weeks of tea tree oil shampoo and colloidal silver gel. I honestly don’t know which really killed the bugs since we used them both for the last two weeks.

I tried to get an appointment locally with a dermatologist for a skin scraping on Igor/Kolton but there was nothing available until October 13! Dr. Keck who we saw at the International adoption clinic in Indy got us an appointment with Dr. Trevers on the 19^th. He was so great to take the time and see us on his lunch break. I was so desperate I drove myself and all 3 children up to indy. All 3 boys did great!

Dr. Trevers took a little scalpel and cut some bumps off of Igor/Kolton and went and looked at it under a microscope. When he came back he said he believed we HAD scabies, but he could see no live mites and all that was left over was the rash that can linger for up to 6 weeks or so. As of today Igor has no new scabies bumps and all of the older bumps are almost healed.

For those of you who are in the process of adopting, here are a few pictures of the rash so you know what you are looking for. These pictures do not show the worst of his rash. Because we had doctors wanting us to wait it out and see if they were really scabies his whole foot was covered before we treated. If you suspect your child has scabies just do the treatment. They are hell to live with. You also have to wash everything in hot water. Whatever cannot be washed has to be put in a black trash bag and put in a closet for a week.
