Saturday. We have had a wonderful morning in Frankfurt spending time at the Romerberg which is the shopping district. We rode the subway which was an experience all in itself. We bought tickets to go one way, but not the other. We realized once we got off the subway on the way back that purchasing tickets must be on the honor system.

For breakfast Jennifer had a carmel latte from a local coffee café. We also had two kinds of pastries purchased at a local bakery next to the café. We ate at a table in the courtyard and watched people start to gather for a festival. We were amazed at how the store keepers took so much care in setting up their stores each morning and going the extra mile by putting table cloths on the public tables in the courtyard.

There was a children’s festival underway all morning. It was neat to see a lot of Germans out enjoying the shops, festival and parks in the morning. We walked through a grocery store and were absolutely amazed at the quality of goods and freshness of produce. We stopped at the festival and got sausage, bratwurst, bread and an onion, pepper and cheese salad along with a Henniger Brau. We got back to the hotel just in time for the weather to turn rainy.

We are looking forward to heading back to Indiana and hope that our flights will be on time.
